National Shrimp Day
Celebrate the taste of the sea! Indulge in delicious shrimp dishes, discover new recipes, and gather with friends and family.
Without a doubt, shrimp is America’s favorite food that is harvested from the sea. Whether talking about salmon or lobster, tuna or clams, shrimp is the shellfish that tops them all!
In fact, shrimp is so popular that, on average, each person living in the US eats more than 4 pounds of shrimp each year. This means that the country consumes around 1.4 billion pounds of shrimp annually. Throughout the world, at least 9 billion pounds of shrimp are consumed each year.
Certainly this makes National Shrimp Day just the right time to celebrate this most popular of delicious seafoods. Fans of this delightful ‘fruit of the sea’ can take time to learn about and pay attention to something so simple and yet so amazing: shrimp!
History of National Shrimp Day
Shrimp has been making its way to the dinner plates of fishermen, their families, and their local communities for thousands of years! Since ancient times when Greeks and Romans would enjoy this shellfish immensely, to modern times when shrimp is caught and shipped all over the world, this little crustacean has made a huge statement, especially for those cultures that are situated on the sea.
Today, the highest consumer of shrimp per capita is Japan, with the United States coming in second. With more than 2000 different species that exist throughout the globe, shrimp can range from small to large and also range in color. The most common species of shrimp, however, are Rock Shrimp, Pink Shrimp, Tiger Shrimp and White Shrimp.
It’s unclear at exactly what point shrimp made its way to tables in the American territories. Some historians say that the French explorers in the Louisiana marshes came across the practice of shrimping in the 1700s. By the mid-1700s, the city of Mobile, Alabama had established itself as a premier location for seafood, including shrimp while Mississippi became important in the seafood industry in the late 1800s. The southern cooking tradition of the shrimp boil likely developed around this time as well.
Further west, in the late 19th century, it seems that some Italian settlers in California started to fish for shrimp in the San Francisco Bay. Other states with access to the sea had their own timelines for developing ways of catching and cooking shrimp. And as better methods for harvesting and shipping shrimp became possible, the dish became popular all over the country in the early 1900s.
Today, shrimp has become an incredibly popular and beloved seafood that people all over the world can appreciate and enjoy – and that’s the reason National Shrimp Day is here!
National Shrimp Day Timeline
1280 Marco Polo writes about shrimp
On his exploration to the Far East, Marco Polo notes the prevalence of seafood in the markets and people’s diets.
14th century Shrimp scampi is invented
This beloved buttery shrimp dish is developed in the city of Genoa, Italy.
1740 The Shrimp Girl is painted
This famous painting by William Hogarth depicts a girl carrying shrimp and mussels to market on her head in London.
Early 20th century Shrimp cocktail gets its start
Following in the footsteps of its cousin, oyster cocktail, shrimp cocktail becomes extremely popular in the mid-20th century.
1996 Bubba Gump Shrimp Company opens
Named after the character in Forrest Gump, this shrimp restaurant starts in California.
How to Celebrate National Shrimp Day
Fried or boiled, scampi or cocktail, grab up a dish full of this delightful little shellfish in honor of National Shrimp Day. Get started celebrating with some of these ideas:
Head Out to a Seafood Restaurant for Shrimp
The perfect way to honor National Shrimp Day would, of course, be to enjoy eating some that has been deliciously prepared in a gourmet kitchen. Those who live by the coast probably have more options than those who are inland, but just about anyone can probably find access to some yummy shrimp dishes and seafood platters in celebration of the day.
Don’t forget to mention to the restaurant staff that this is National Shrimp Day! They might have some special offers or discounts on various shrimp meals. Choose from one of these favorite ways that shrimp is prepared:
Shrimp Scampi. Offering a buttery garlic sauce, this simple but delicious dish uses olive oil and lemon juice to bring out the flavor of the shrimp.
Shrimp Cocktail. A popular appetizer or served during the cocktail hour (thus, the name), these pre-cooked shrimp are served cold with a special red cocktail sauce.
Shrimp Monterey. This type of shrimp is made with Monterey Jack cheese and served over a bed of angel hair pasta.
Shrimp Chowder. A slight change on the traditional clam chowder, a cup of this deliciously thick soup is perfect as an appetizer or fill up a bowl for a hearty meal.
Learn Some Fun Facts About Shrimp
Show some respect to this little shellfish that makes a big impact by learning some interesting bits of trivia. And increase awareness and excitement for the day by sharing some of these facts with friends, coworkers and family members in honor of National Shrimp Day:
Shrimp are amazing at “swimming” through the water, though they are typically moving backwards.
Shrimp are very unique in that every single shrimp is born as a male and then becomes a female over their lifetime.
There are more than 2000 different species of shrimp that can be found in bodies of water all over the globe.
While Americans use the word “shrimp” and British folks will use the word “prawns” interchangeably, these are actually two different species of crustacean, mostly to do with the fact that shrimp are smaller and prawns dwell in freshwater not seawater.
Learn About Shrimp Allergies
While the celebration of National Shrimp Day usually means eating shrimp, it also might be an important time to learn about those folks who have an allergy to shrimp. Of all of the seafood allergies, shrimp is the most common in both children and adults.
When a person who is allergic to shrimp is exposed to this allergen, the reactions can range from mild to severe, or even life threatening. A stuffy nose, hives, swelling and difficulty breathing can be some of the symptoms. Friends and family members of people with a shrimp allergy, may find it important to be aware of an emergency treatment plan. For many people, the right course of action for whole body anaphylaxis is a dose from an epinephrine pen.

Kiss me? She wants to kiss me?
This took Randall by surprise-which, in hindsight, it shouldn't have, since Emily seemed unabashedly smitten with him, in a way he'd never known any woman to be with him. Most women wouldn't look twice at him, he wasn't exactly New Orleans' most eligible bachelor...but that just didn't seem to matter to Emily. She was head over heels for him, it seemed-and the feeling was mutual.
And even though this was only their first date, he felt comfortable with this request-were it anyone else, any other girl he was going out with, he'd think this was all the set-up for some great big prank, some sort of practical joke cooked up by his co-workers...but this was Emily asking him this, and he knew she would never be so cruel. He couldn't explain how, he just knew, in his heart of hearts, that he could trust her.
And so, it was with trembling lips and a pounding heart that he gave his answer, trying his hardest not to stutter as he gave his breathless answer:
"Y-Yes."

Why did my cat have to be allergic to the most common ingredient in all cat food (chicken) and why did it also have to be his most favorite thing in the world
He doesn't understand that not giving him his favorite numnum is for his own good, and he also doesn't understand that when he manages to steal some of his brother's food (who REFUSES to change food to something they can both eat to avoid this goddamn issue because fuck me) and he gets itchy and has catbox issues that it's a direct correlation to eating his favorite numnum (chicken) (which he is allergic to)

Me, to my sibling, our mom with us: see, I could show [friend] pretty gore art and she's probably like it, but I can't show it to mom. She wouldn't think it was pretty.
My mom: I used to have this really gorgeous set of Clamp cards ((pretty sure she is talking about this Clamp)). Absolutely beautiful artwork, and then you look at the details
Me, thinking about a very nicely drawn piece of art depicting actual organs and the way I pick through anatomy charts and sometimes just look up what organs look like just to look at them and my liking a horror movie or not kinda depends on how realistic the blood looks in it: I don't think we're talking about the same kind of gore, mom
*tow truck goes past with a pickup truck in-tow, the front passenger side totally fucked up, spot for the headlights hollowed out and kinda crumpled around it*
Me: damn.
My older sibling: look, gore!
*entire car starts snickering*
#tw gore mention#me and my mom#i like gore. my mom is still wondering how tf i'm her kid.#ironically despite my like of gore and strong appreciation for cannibalism as an analogy qnd my general interest in the field medicine#i kinda don't want to touch organ meat with a 10ft pole. my mom says i'd eat it when i was little in a dish she made (i dont remember this)#and the reason i don't want to is purely that i know too much about what said organs do#i don't think it's gross or anything. i just. firmly cannot with most organ meat.#tongueheartand i think i've had intestines on like. sausage and meat stick type things. are ok. like I normally wouldn't go for intestines#but i've eaten them#tongue is fine in my book afaik#and tbh i'm curious about heart meat- it's just nowhere near me sells that and the nearest local butcher is like 30-45 minutes away#and i'm not currently eating meat other than seafood rn because i don't trust the meat industry even a little bit at the moment#i really fucking miss beef and pork. i even kinda miss chicken and lamb. but i already did not trust the American meat industry#bc. it's the states. what is there to trust.#but back to the organ bit. i know what livers and kidneys and other things do. i don't xant to think about the texture.#actually really the only thing i think about as gross when it comes to what parts to eat/not eat is shit like#you use exactly one thing from the animal and discard the rest#that. that shit pisses me the fuck off and turns my stomach completely.#same with sport hunting tbh. i do not like sport hunting of any kindreally. especially canned and poaching.#i have opinions on that.... but no. if you're gonna kill an animal use all the parts otherwise whats the fucking point.#hides and furs have uses. fat and meat- muscle and organ alike. bone and antlers and horns- depending on the animal- have uses so use 'em#and all that shit#wait i was talking about gore now i'm on... nvm#i like gore my sibling is okay with it and my mom does not appreciate it at all#we all also have very different ideas of “cute” lol

National Clam Chowder Day
Love clams and chowder? Everyone’s heard of clam chowder, but did you know that it’s also has a holiday? National Clam Chowder Day is a day all about celebrating the history of this beloved fish stew, historical in its origins to the New England area and helped ultimately inspire creations such as the Manhatten clam chowder, Rhode Island clam chowder, and Long Island clam chowder.
History of National Clam Chowder Day
Chowder dates back as early as 1795 when chowder was originally made as water-based fish soup and various thickness featuring onions, potatoes, and carrots.
The origins of this kind of stew are said to have begun with the French, Nova Scotian, and British as it was a commoner’s dish during the 1700s. Crackers and croutons are usually added as a thickener, and it was just around that time when clam chowder started popping up as a popular version within the Boston area.
By 1836, clam chowder became a staple for sailors, as it was another way to make a constant diet of fish palatable. Most were then a creamy white soup, as a diary, later on, became a more popular addition to the soup in cooler regions where milk animals flourished.
Here’s a fun fact; In 1939, a bill was introduced into the in the Maine state legislature that almost made the use of tomatoes in clam chowder against the law. That’s how much they love their clam chowder!
Today, clam chowder has become a staple for many restaurants all over the United States and has also become more accessible for people when companies such as Campbell’s and Progresso introduced clam chowder in a soup can.
On this day, people either go out to their favorite places to eat clam chowder, buy a can of soup for dinner, or attempt to make their own clam chowder for dinner that day.
How to Celebrate National Clam Chowder Day
People all over celebrate National Clam Chowder Day, so why not take a crack at it by looking up a popular recipe for clam chowder and make it yourself! Season it the way you like it, make it milk-free if needed, and see how well you make clam chowder.
If you’re not up for cooking, head on over to a  restaurant you know that’s excellent at making clam chowder; one of the most famous places in the United States for its clam chowder is the Ye Olde Union Oyster House, one of the oldest standing restaurants in New England since 1836. Share this holiday with your friends and enjoy a delicious meal with each other.

i want to take the time to talk about a series of disabilities that no one takes seriously or even recognizes as a disability, which is food intolerances, and allergies. if a person can get sick if they eat the wrong foods, they are disabled, as this illness will make them unable to function all because they ate the wrong food. it's not okay to guilt someone for seeking foods that won't injure them.
in 2022, i began to lose my ability to digest land meats (pork, chicken, cow, etc.), animal milks, and eggs. it started slowly but quickly progressed to every type of land meat. i am only able to digest seafood, plants, nuts, seeds safely without becoming horribly sick. i tried to buy cow's milk because it is cheaper recently and became so ill it was genuinely traumatic. i have never been that sick in my life before. i cannot safely ingest cow's milk, the cheaper option, because it will injure me for several days or even weeks at a time. this happens to me with all land meats as well.
i cannot eat eggs. i cannot fried rice that has egg, i cannot eat most sauces like mayo or ranch dressing because of their high egg content. i cannot eat anything dressed in mayo as a sauce. anything that is baked or brushed or washed with egg is a risk. my digestive system really hates eggs in particular and they are inescapable.
people who can't digest or process lactose, gluten, meats, seafood, eggs, nuts, seeds, beans, fiber, certain fats, proteins or sugars don't have their needs considered very often, nor taken seriously, especially when that person is poor. people with digestive issues need to be able to eat foods that don't hurt us- it's not our faults that alternative milks, breads, pizzas, snacks, sauces, dips, spreads, meats and more are significantly more expensive. we still need to be able to eat foods that don't harm us regardless of how much money we make.

PSA: fresh spinach is really good!
I don't know why it's taken me so long to figure this out but maybe is because I only ever had it mixed with other leaves when fresh and then cooked or from frozen as an ingredient in other things... But yeah I got two bags of it during my last grocery order (it was on sale and I wanted to make green smoothies with my new blender) and am just adding it to everything! It doesn't have much flavour but it just feels FRESH and CRUNCHY but in a more delicate way than lettuce... You know?

Cultural Cuisine: Dinner with the Beifongs
I've been wanting to analyze the dishes the Beifong were offering for years now, but procrastinated because I knew it would be time-consuming. After much research, I'm pretty satisfied with the headcanon I've created!
My theory? The Beifongs did not want Aang to feel welcome in their home, even before he started bickering with Toph. Allow me to provide the evidence.
Red Braised Spare Ribs
Tumblr media
Red-Braised Spare Ribs or Hong Shao Pai Gu (çșąçƒ§æŽ’éȘš) is a popular Chinese pork dish characterized by its sweet and savory flavor profile. This is achieved through the red-braising method: Cooking the ribs in a mixture of light & dark soy sauce, rock sugar, Shaoxing wine, and other aromatics like ginger & star anise.
While I've had this style of ribs before, this has to be the most decadent plating of the dish I have ever seen. Not only is there a giant pile of the spare ribs, but they literally lined the bowl with extra slices of marrow-filled bone. As delicious as that looks to a meat-eater, don't you think it's a bit tasteless to display all of that in front of a monk?
Sweet and Sour Fish
Tumblr media
Sweet and Sour Fish or Tang Cu Yu (çł–é†‹é±Œ) is a beloved Chinese dish composed of a battered & fried fish covered in pineapple, red bell pepper, and the ever-iconic sweet & sour sauce.
However, it seems like the chef skimped a little on the sauce and toppings, calling even more attention to the dead fish on a plate...
Pan Fried Pork Buns
Tumblr media
Pan-Fried Pork Buns, also known as Sheng Jian Bao (生煎挅) or Sheng Jian Mantou (ç”Ÿç…Žïżœïżœć€Ž), are a popular Chinese specialty. They're beloved for their contrast in textures and flavors: They combine a soft, fluffy top with a crispy, golden-brown bottom and juicy pork filling.
Not much to say, other than the Beifongs are pretty much serving up the entire pig at this point.
Steamed Lobster Tail
Tumblr media
I'm guessing the Steamed Lobster Tails (è’žéŸèŠć°Ÿ) were served to ensure they had equal-parts seafood and pork dishes on the table. When I think of Chinese lobster dishes, I always think of the Cantonese-style lobster tails served at the fancy sit-down restaurants in California.
Soy Sauce Braised Chicken Wings
Tumblr media
This one might be a bit of a stretch, but that bowl of light brown ovals looks like braised chicken wings to me. Soy sauce braised chicken wings or hĂłngshāo jÄ« yĂŹ (çŽ…ç‡’é›žçżŒ) are a popular dish known for their sweet and savory flavor, as well as their glossy, sticky glaze. They're a staple of Chinese-American restaurants.
Compared to the previous ATLA meals I've covered, the meat-content of this dinner is kind of ridiculous.
Fried Rice
Tumblr media
A staple of every Chinese restaurant, from mom-n-pop takeout joints to the most bourgeois of banquet halls. Fried rice can be vegetarian, but I'm pretty certain that the Beifongs' version had meat in it, since there wasn't any on Aang's plate.
So what exactly did Aang get to eat during this decadent feast?
Aang's Meal
Tumblr media
Tea. Soup. Scallion Fried Rice. Giant Pile of Plain Rice.
And that's it.
They had one of the most important people in the world as their honored guest and the Beifongs served him the kind of meal that a broke college student might think to make. Admittedly, the scallion fried rice looks tasty but it's still just rice and green onion.
You expect me to believe that the richest family in the Earth Kingdom could only provide the Avatar with rice and soup? When there's plenty of vegetarian options within Earth Kingdom cuisine?
No, this was a very passive-aggressive way of telling Aang that he can go eff right off. Why did they not want him there? Probably because they knew his presence in their house meant he needed their help with the war effort, and they are just too wealthy to bother caring about anything outside their rich person bubble.

but i don't eat green things.
Tumblr media
synopsis: lads men with a picky eater
characters: xavier, zayne, rafayel, sylus, caleb
andy speaks: picky eating tendencies base on my own experiences so this is very self-indulgent (when is it not 🗿) also HIIIII icb i went back to this app after two months of radio silence RAF GOT TO ME 😞â˜č hes so gorgeous i pray i get his new myth pair in just ten pulls 🍀 gacha gods pls smile upon me 🍀🍀 (p.s maybe a little ooc for them im not too sure but!! as usual, enjoy reading !!)
Tumblr media
XAVIER is like a vacuum. he eats everything. well, almost everything. he will eat anything edible.
oh, you don't eat your veggies? it's fine, he'll pick it out from your plate.
don't like the order you got? it's okay. he'll either switch plates with you (if you happen to be okay with his order) or he'll personally ask the chef/staff to change it to something else.
one thing he likes is when you just shove it in his mouth.
he could be minding his own business. when all of a sudden, a sudden force causes him to choke.
turns out, it was only you </3 shoving a piece of broccoli down his throat with no warning whatsover
a good partner for picky eaters! just remember to eat meat! if you're gonna feed him the food you don't like, might as well feed him the food he likes.
Tumblr media
ZAYNE can't really talk... he can ask you to please eat your greens but that'll be hypocritical of him considering he picks out everything carrot-related.
still he knows the importance of having a balanced meal so yes, he will still ask of you to kindly eat your veggies.
if carrots are one of the things you like or tolerate, zayne is very much elated.
he'll drop the carrots into your plate like you're his pet bunny.
but if you also don't like carrots then let's just say the two of you aren't eating any dishes with carrots anytime soon.
however, i don't think he'll ask you to finish everything. he'll probably just encourage to atleast finish most of it. enough to get nutrition but not too much that you throw up.
Tumblr media
RAFAYEL is the type to introduce you to foods that are new to your palate.
when eating out, he'll order your usual and maybe something different for him.
then he'll ask you try his food, holding out a spoon infront of you.
if you liked it, then he'll share his food with you.
if not, he'll shrug and continues eating (and chatting with you about anything, i don't think he likes eating in silence).
if you're the type of person who likes seafood but don't know/can't peel or pick them, he'll do it for you.
and if you don't like seafood? heartbreak. he'll be sad 'cause you're missing out on a paradise of flavors but he won't force you to eat it.
Tumblr media
SYLUS knows you're a picky eater and most probably will tolerate it.
you don't want this? he'll get you something else. ask his chef to cook you something else. something that you'll enjoy eating.
is he spoiling you? yes, he is. he just wants to satisfy you, whatever it is that you want.
but if it's been days since you've had a balanced meal? he'll sit you down and feed you.
he'll pair the greens with some of your familiar dishes and give it to you in small bites.
though, most of the times, he will indulge you.
he's the type to order you nuggets and fries when out dining. (I JUST KNOW IT OKAY)
he's also the type to pay attention when you're picking.. at your food, y'know?
like you could be talking to him while scooping out the peas and pushing them to the side of your plate. and he'll be reminded of a dragon hoarding its treasure but this time, its... pushing away its treasure? can't really call it treasure, i guess.
anyways, he finds it fascinating. he finds you fascinating.
Tumblr media
CALEB just laughs at you and for a moment, you think he'll just brush it off.
but you're wrong. because he will never forget this.
he'll ask you a few times to eat your veggies. and if you keep on refusing? caleb will have to result to other means then.
since he's the one who cooks most between you two, he'll sneak the vegetables into your dish.
but he'll do it in a way that you won't notice.
the only way you'll eat your veggies according to caleb? blend them. use the mighty food processor and immersion blender. you won't notice a thing.
do you ever find out that he sneaks vegetables into your dish? no, never. he makes sure of it.
when you're eating out, you don't have to drop anything on his plate, he'll immediately pick it out of your plate.
the type to confront the waiter/staff/cook that "uh, she didn't ask for pickles."
doesn't make you feel bad about your habits, he prefers talking about it casually.

pairing: bf! isack hadjar x reader word count: 1.2k tags: hurt and comfort, fluff, tiny tiny angst due to mc's insecurities, isack being the best boyfriend that he is in my head, badly translated french and mandarin, etc a/n: dedicated to @tsunodaradio. it seemed fitting that my first isack fic would be for you. hadjoints makes me happy but you make me happier <3
Isack was as dramatic as any Parisian could be. He would tell you every time that not every French was as over the top as you always say they were. The actual word is ‘expressive’. Thank you very much.
That's why you are shocked to the core when you said you wanted to break up and Shakespeare forgot to possess him like he always does. Isack froze for a second and then wanted to know where this came from.
“Was it anything I did, ma chĂ©rie ? Did I neglect you?”
He was patient and looked like he would wait until the CÎte d'Albùtre was eroded away by the Atlantic Ocean. You didn't think you could bear to disappoint him by saying that it was because he is too cute. He felt too good to be true. So you mumble that it's a tiktok trend and walk away.

The second time you told him that you wanted to break up was when you guys had the perfect day, the perfect date, and the perfect weather. You are laying down on his arm. his pulsing heart a companion to the blazing heat radiating from him. You snuggle into him as the cold wind nips at your neck even though there was no space between the two of you. Isack was mumbling like he always does and the cadence of his voice was getting lower with each passing sentence. It was the worst time to blurt out,
“I don't think this is working.”
Isack didn't even open his eyes to reply. “Ma moitiĂ©, I already told you I would request someone to fix our heating tomorrow. Do you want me to bring another blanket for us? C'est impossible to endure?”
There was a suspicious lump in your throat when you whispered, “I meant that I want to break up.”
He shifted until he had his arm across you and rubbed your arms. A puff of “We can talk about this tomorrow.” and he was out like a light. This conversation didn’t continue tomorrow. Or the next day. Or the day after next. Or in the next six months.

It picked up when you celebrated your second anniversary with a nice trip out to Shenzhen, China. You always wanted to walk the vibrant streets of Dafan Oil Painting Village. Isack always wants to give you anything your heart longed for.
Between inhaling your body weight in dimsum, giggling as you dared each other to try yā xīn, and the famous seafood dishes, you fell in love again with food and with Isack. This can't go on, you thought. How do I keep falling in love with him again and again?
Final day of the trip was gently passing away with you glued to a painter mixing the most horrendous shade of blue and ending it with a finished painting that would have made Monet sell all his valuables to have it in his collection. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for you, you were able to get it for 465 yuan. Hoisting your new favourite piece of art under your arm with one hand, you pattered off to where Isack was losing badly to a game of chess. The grandpa playing against him was looking at him with such adoration that anyone would think your boyfriend saved him from certain death and was not just getting his arse kicked by an 80 year old man.
“Okay, I thought it over. I want to break up for real.” You declared as you came to a stop.
Both Isack and the grandpa looked up in unison. In a blink you found your hand stuffed with a 10 yuan. The older man was pointing at the board and said, “Měinǚ jiějiě, qĂč hē zhenzou nǎichĂĄ bā. Wǒ hĂĄi xiǎng zĂ i wĂĄn yÄ« jĂș. MĂ©i xiǎngdĂ o quĂĄn shĂŹjiĂš dƍu mĂ©i rĂ©n bǐ wǒ wĂĄn dĂ© chĂ .”
Mandarin was not a language that any of you picked up. But food is a universal language and you knew ‘zhenzou nǎichá’ was boba milk tea. You figured that he wanted to play another round with the money being a bribe for you to let your boyfriend play.
You look at Isack and he shrugged his shoulders in a way that only he does. “We are not breaking up and can you get me one with sugar.”
Giving up was the best choice since you already accepted the bribe and Isack’s bullheadedness. “Fine. But you are only getting the basic one. Someone's favourite brown sugar one is for ex-boyfriends.”
You sashayed away thinking that you had the last word but a distant “I think current boyfriends deserve a grass jelly boba” shout had you walking a tad bit faster.
You got him his grass jelly drink. Full ice too because that boy had you wrapped around his finger and the both of you knew it.

“Enough.” Isack grumbled. “I will try to be a bad boyfriend.”
“Hm?” You look up from your cards. It was game night and both of you were sitting on the floor with elbows being pressed into the kotatsu you insisted was a necessary addition to the household. Isack had his arms across the chest. His eyes were boring into you. “I know what you are gonna say now. Mon chou, I want to break up. Our relationship is not working. No more of this. Please.” His tone got smaller until it fizzled out in the end.
Your brain short-circuited. “How did you know?”
“You always do this. We are having fun. The cheese pizza hit the spot AND you were winning all the games. It is the perfect vibe so I knew that you would try to run away. I am not letting you go without an actual reason. Spill. Why do you hate me the most when I show you the most love?” Isack's chest was heaving by the time he was done. It broke your heart to see him in distress. “I could never hate you.”
His breath hitched. You could see him relaxing his stance as a tension left his body. “What did I do wrong? Please tell me.”
You finally had to admit to him you were scared that this was the best memory you guys would ever have. That something this perfect couldn't be true. “Mon cƓur, I think you are too good to be true too. And I can't help but scratch the itch of wanting to tear out the lies.”
Isack runs his hand through his hair as he starts pacing. “So you always want to give up on me without letting me have a chance to show you that this is real. Our love is real and it's here to stay.” He continues in a tight voice, “Do you not trust me?”
“You know I do. With my whole life.”
“But not with our relationship.”
“I-”
“Sorry.” Isack cuts you off. “That was cruel of me. Can you just promise to trust me a bit more when you are happy? Trust me to make you happier?”
After this, whenever you wanted to pack up and leave because this boy was making you experience another heart-wrenching, high-inducing level of contentment you never thought you would reach, you would simply press a kiss to his hair. Isack knew what it meant. He would hold you a bit tighter and that was enough.
Love was scary. Trusting someone to love you was scarier. But you would live life to the full while being frightened. For him.
